What Is Artery (Definition Of Arteries): Many people have been asking the question of What is artery or the definition of arteries. Well, today, I am going to do justice by answering with examples the definition of arteries.

Arteries are the blood vessels which transport, distribute or deliver oxygen rich blood from the heart to the tissues of the body. Arteries has a muscular tube each and each of them has three layers. They are:

  1. The Intima: The Intima is the inner layer lined by a smooth tissue which is called endothelium.
  2. The Media: This is a layer of muscle that makes sure that arteries handles the high pressure from the heart.
  3. The adventitia: This is the connective tissue which anchors tissues  arteries to nearby tissues.
However, arteries has one of its largest by the name Aorta. Aorta is the main high pressure pipeline connected to the heart's left ventricle. It also works with other smaller arteries which are called arterioles and capillaries that extend throughout the body. The pulmonary arteries is the one that carries blood from the heart to the lungs.
